Animal Advocacy
Since 2020 Outside my architectural practice I have been exposed to the world of animal testing which promopted my journy into animal advocacy.I have written a letter to all those involved in the construction of the new St. Paul's hospital research center to increase awairness on the state of animals in the Canadian labs. Canada is legally obligated to 3 Rs ( Refine, Reduce, Replace) Animals in research but the number of animals used in Canada each year is increasing exponentially and new research centers are being built.

More than 5 million animals were used in experiments in labs in Canada in 2020. The number includes 5932 primates ( monkeys). These primates are either taken away from their natural habitats and their families and many are on the endangered lists or are bred in horrible conditions inside cages are their lives. babies are taken away sometimes weeks old to be used for experiments. Holding pins are drilled in their skull to help scientists demobilize them in painful long experiments.
Foie Gras French Dish
Foie Gras is a traditional French dish that is served in many restaurants across Vancouver. Enlarged duck or gees livers are made through a process called gavage which means force-feeding ducks typically housed in small metal cages until the liver becomes fatty and diseased. Gavage is cruel due mainly to the animal welfare concerns about force-feeding, intensive housing and husbandry, and enlarging the liver to 10 times its usual volume. A number of countries and jurisdictions have laws against force-feeding, as well as the production, import, or sale of foie gras. Meanwhile Canada is one of the largest producers of Foie Gras in the world and this dish is served in more than 30 restaurants across Vancouver.
